Court sentences Pal Lekaj to 3 years and 8 months in prison in the “53-million” case

Pal Lekaj, former minister of infrastructure, has been sentenced by the Basic Court in Prishtina to 3 years and 8 months in prison as part of the case known as the “53-million” case.

The judicial procedure concerns the additional payment of 53.1 million euros made to the company “Bechtel & Enka” for the extension of the construction deadline for the “Arbën Xhaferi” highway.

Also on trial in this case are Eset Berisha, Nebih Shatri, and Besim Tahiri.

The case was sent back for retrial after the Court of Appeals annulled the previous verdict.
