VLEN has reacted to comments by Serbian Minister Milica Gjurgjeviq Stamenkovski during the ceremony in Zebërnjak, describing them as a political provocation and an attempt to revive Serbian nationalist narratives in North Macedonia.
According to the party, the Battle of Kumanovo cannot be interpreted as the fulfillment of the so-called “Kosovo oath.” In its response, VLEN called on official Belgrade to finally distance itself from hegemonic approaches.

“The official policy of Belgrade must finally abandon its hegemonic mindset,” VLEN’s statement said.
Particular criticism was also directed at Minister Ivan Stoilkoviq for his participation in the event. VLEN accused him of taking part in activities that, according to the party, promote Serbia’s nationalist agendas, instead of representing the interests of the state in which he holds office.
“North Macedonia will never be a platform for Serbia’s historical and political claims!” the statement emphasized.
VLEN said it would oppose any attempt to exploit history in the service of nationalism and would not remain silent in the face of such actions.
