As a result of close cooperation between the Diplomatic Security Service of the US Embassy in Tirana, the Criminal Police Department/Joint Investigation Unit, Interpol Tirana, Interpol Washington, Interpol Manchester and Interpol Brussels, the procedure for deporting to Albania the citizen arrested in Ohio on 05.05.2026 was finalized as part of the operation codenamed “Globi”:

– Sokol Hoxha, 51, born in Fier.

In 2000, this citizen was sentenced by the Fier Court to 25 years in prison for the criminal offense of “Murder,” committed in cooperation, after, on 30.03.1997, in Patos, Fier, in cooperation with citizen D. S., he shot and killed citizens H. B. and I. B. (brothers) for trivial motives.

Also, in 2010, he was sentenced by the Brussels Court in Belgium to life imprisonment for the criminal offense of “Intentional Murder,” after, on 29.08.1997, he shot and killed an Albanian woman in Brussels whom he had previously exploited for prostitution.

The deportation of citizen Sokol Hoxha this morning was the result of continued international police cooperation between investigators from the Special Police Unit of the Criminal Police Department, known as the Joint Investigative Services Unit, which works closely with the International Criminal Investigations Units DSS/OCIU at the US Embassy in Tirana, as well as with the US Marshals and ICE-ERO in the United States.

The State Police is fully committed and determined to stand alongside its American partners in joint investigations, particularly in cases involving citizens wanted by the authorities who evade the justice systems of both countries.
