Further details have emerged about the arrest of Ergys Agasi a day earlier. According to sources, it is learned that a police patrol in Elbasan initially spotted the vehicle in which Agasi and Uljan Shpataraku were traveling and began pursuing them.

The Arrest

Agasi was arrested yesterday (August 26), while he had been declared wanted by SPAK in December 2025.

He was located while traveling in a vehicle together with former police officer Uljan Shpataraku, who was also arrested during the operation.

According to SPAK, he is suspected of a series of criminal offenses as part of the investigation into AKSHI procurement procedures, including illegal competition through violence, unlawful deprivation of liberty, violation of equality in tenders, and laundering the proceeds of criminal activity.

According to the Special Prosecution Office, Ergys Agasi faces 7 charges: “Illegal competition through violence,” “Unlawful deprivation of liberty,” “Violation of participants’ equality in public tenders or auctions” committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, and “Structured criminal group,” “Commission of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and structured criminal group,” as well as “Laundering of the proceeds of criminal offense or criminal activity” and “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions.”

Yesterday’s (August 26) Announcement from SPAK on Agasi’s Arrest

Following several weeks of work in close cooperation with the specialized operational structures of the State Police and the National Bureau of Investigation, today, on August 26, 2026, the arrest of citizen Ergys Agasi was made possible, at the southern entrance of the city of Durrës, in the Plepa area, on the highway. At the moment of arrest, this citizen was accompanied by citizen U. Sh., a former police officer, who was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of “Supporting the perpetrator of a crime,” provided for by Article 302/2 of the Penal Code.

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime continues investigations into criminal proceedings no. 20/1 of 2025, for which, on December 5, 2025, it also registered the name of citizen Ergys Agasi. This citizen is being investigated for committing the criminal offenses: “Illegal competition through violence,” “Unlawful deprivation of liberty,” “Violation of participants’ equality in public tenders or auctions” committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, and “Structured criminal group,” “Commission of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and structured criminal group,” as well as “Laundering of the proceeds of criminal offense or criminal activity,” provided for by Articles 110, 170/b and 28/4, 258, 287, and 333/a and 334 of the Penal Code, and “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions,” committed in cooperation, more than once, provided for by Article 244, second paragraph of the Penal Code.

Against the person under investigation, specifically citizen Ergys Agasi, by decision no. 125, dated December 15, 2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, the security measure of “imprisonment” has been imposed, provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court decision was immediately sent for execution by the State Police structures with official letter no. 43104 prot., dated December 17, 2025.
