The cities of Ahvaz and Bushehr in southern Iran have been the subject of reports of explosions, as the United States continued strikes against Iranian targets for a fifth consecutive night.
Iran’s Mehr news agency, citing the deputy governor of Khuzestan province, reported that explosions were heard in Ahvaz. The state news agency IRNA also reported explosions in the city of Bushehr.

Earlier reports by Iranian media also spoke of explosions on Qeshm Island, as well as in Bandar Abbas and Chabahar.
Meanwhile, US Central Command, CENTCOM, announced that the fifth wave of strikes against Iran began at 21:00. According to CENTCOM, the operation aims to further weaken the country’s military capabilities.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said communication between Iran and the United States continues, while Tehran is seeking to reach an agreement.
“The attacks of recent days came after Iran violated the memorandum of understanding we had,” Levitt said.
She explained that the signed memorandum of understanding stipulated that Iranian authorities would not fire on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
“However, unfortunately, they chose to make this tragic decision,” Levitt said.
According to her, the Strait of Hormuz remains open to ships that are not traveling to or departing from Iranian ports, while the US Navy remains in the area to ensure navigation.
