Speaking during a visit to the “Moto Ilinden Urban Drive” festival in Skopje, Toshkovski emphasized the importance of using protective equipment and complying with traffic rules for motorcycle riders.
The “Safe City” system now also covers motorcycles. At the beginning of September, the minister announced that the technical problem preventing the detection of violations committed by motorcyclists had been resolved. On the first day alone, the system recorded around nine cases of exceeding the permitted speed limit.
Currently, the identification of motorcyclists riding without helmets is not yet operational. This option is expected to be activated once the system is upgraded with artificial intelligence technology.
According to Toshkovski, wearing helmets and other protective equipment, along with complying with speed limits and traffic rules, is intended to improve motorcyclists’ safety and limit the consequences of road accidents.
