An unusual incident has shocked Venice, where a pickpocket died of a heart attack just minutes after robbing an elderly couple.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 12:30 p.m. in the Campo dei Frari area. According to reports, the man, accompanied by several other people, managed to steal a wallet from the couple’s backpack. Among the stolen items were life-saving medications needed by one of the elderly victims.
Immediately after the theft, the group quickly fled. Italian media report that at around 1:00 p.m., several passersby saw the thief suddenly collapse near Palazzo Cosulich.
Emergency teams arrived at the scene immediately and attempted to resuscitate him using a defibrillator. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
