A couple consisting of a 38-year-old German woman and a 43-year-old Greek man were arrested last month after authorities discovered that they had kept the body of their baby, who had died four years earlier, in a refrigerator.

Authorities said that the baby had died in 2022 and that her body had numerous severe wounds caused by stab injuries.
The statements given to police by the two detainees were recently made public through media reports.
Christos Psarras, the couple’s lawyer in Hamburg, told German media that they moved from one apartment to another, on average, every four or five months. According to him, during each move, the couple also took with them the baby, whose body was being kept in a refrigerator, and placed it in the refrigeration appliance at their new home.
The lawyer added that the body was kept inside a container, as the couple claimed that they intended to “honor her memory.” He explained that this could not be carried out because of the involvement of other people in the case.
