Overnight, powerful storms that swept across southern Britain caused a series of difficulties, including the temporary closure of Bristol Airport and power outages affecting hundreds of homes.
Authorities said airport operations were suspended because of a problem in the air traffic control systems, while travelers were advised to contact their airlines for information about their flights.

At the same time, in the Emersons Green area, lightning is suspected to have caused a fire at a home. Fire crews worked for several hours before bringing the situation under control, with no injuries reported.
According to the Meteorological Office, the storms were accompanied by around 26,000 lightning strikes in southern Britain. Temperatures also fell by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius compared with recent days.
As a result of the extreme weather, hundreds of families in the Glastonbury area were also temporarily left without electricity.
