A serious shooting at a library in Northern California has left two people dead and one child with minor injuries, while the suspect was taken into custody by police.
According to local authorities, the incident was reported at around 5:00 p.m. local time at the Butte County Library in the city of Chico.

During a press conference, Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge said officers received reports of gunfire and screams coming from inside the library.
After police entered the building, the suspect exited through the back door of the library, but was immediately stopped by officers stationed in that part of the facility.
“This incident is extremely sad and traumatic for many people in our community,” Aldridge said.
Authorities have confirmed that two people lost their lives, while one child was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The identities of the victims have not yet been made public, as authorities are waiting to notify family members.
Meanwhile, no information has yet been released about the identity of the attacker or the motive for the assault, although investigators suspect he acted alone.
Butte County has asked residents to avoid the area and announced that all library branches will remain closed until further notice.
