This Wednesday’s parliamentary session was accompanied by high-toned accusations between MP of the Opportunity Party, Erald Kapri, and the representative of the socialist majority, Zegjine Çaushi.
In his speech, Kapri stated that Çaushi is in Parliament without having won her mandate honestly, describing her presence as proof of the degradation of parliamentarism. He added that this was the first and last time he dealt with her, stressing that the MP was being used to divert attention from real problems. He then recited a verse sung by young protesters: “Zegjine, Zegjine, we are 3 million, you can’t count, go to school to learn.”

For her part, Zegjine Çaushi justified her presence as a mission to serve the truth to her opponent’s face. She immediately steered the conversation towards the leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, questioning the origin of a 15-million-euro fortune. According to her accusations, this amount was used in fictitious transactions and money laundering, demanding an account of where the property that justifies such a high value is located, which she said does not even exist in New York.
Kapri’s accusations also focused on a wide network of people paid with state funds, operating on the premises of the Socialist Party and who, according to him, engage in fake profiles and comments to attack the opposition. He ended his speech by warning that they would meet again in the square until the fall of Edi Rama’s government.
