Initial estimates for Serbia’s parliamentary elections, which saw record turnout, have now been released.
According to the initial Ipsos/CeSID projection, the student electoral list received 52% of the vote, compared with 39.3% for Vučić’s coalition. This would give it around 138 of the 250 parliamentary seats, but the figures are still preliminary.

Voter turnout was exceptionally high. The elections were held after nearly two years of mass protests against the government, which began after the collapse of a canopy at Novi Sad railway station in November 2024, killing 16 people.
Students turned public discontent over corruption and the way institutions operate into an organized political demand. Their victory could pave the way for a change of government in Belgrade and significantly affect Serbia’s relations with the European Union, Russia, and other Western Balkan countries.
