Russian General Aleksander Chayko is suspected of having been the target of a bomb attack at a restaurant in Moscow, where five people were killed and 19 others injured, according to reports from Russian media.

According to reports, also cited by the Daily Mail, Chayko was celebrating his 55th birthday at the Balzi Rossi restaurant, located just a few hundred meters from the Kremlin.
The homemade bomb, which was reportedly packed with metal spheres to increase its destructive power, is suspected of having been brought into the restaurant by a woman as a fake gift. The device exploded after it was identified inside the premises, while the woman was killed at the scene.
Russian politicians, senior military officers and representatives of the secret services were attending the celebration, which reportedly cost thousands of euros.
Among the five victims was the general’s son-in-law, 27-year-old Danil Perendri, a former professional ice hockey player. Meanwhile, the general’s 25-year-old daughter, Maria Perendri, is among the 19 injured and is reported to have suffered serious head injuries.
