Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has commented on the dismissal of Anuela Ristani from her post as acting mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, describing it as an open attack by Erion Veliaj against Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“Erion Veliaj’s act yesterday ultimately proves that Edi Rama is becoming a dead horse whose horseshoes are now being removed,” Berisha said during a discussion with citizens on social media.
According to the Democratic Party leader, Rama is in a difficult situation and is no longer capable of carrying out the changes he has announced.
He also referred to the decision of the Constitutional Court, which, according to Berisha, deemed unconstitutional the procedure by which Edi Rama dismissed Veliaj through the Socialist councillors on the Municipal Council.
“It cannot be denied that the Constitutional Court deemed unconstitutional the procedure by which Edi Rama dismissed him through his Socialist municipal councillors. But the moment Erion Veliaj chose to throw down the gauntlet and challenge him once and for all is evidence of Edi Rama’s extreme weakness. So, everything is being carried out as part of a battle between them. But the victims are the citizens of Tirana,” Berisha said.
