According to the American envoy, Thaçi was arrested by Smith while he was traveling to Washington to meet with him and sign an agreement with President Trump in the Oval Office.

Grenell claims that all of Jack Smith’s cases in the United States have ended unsuccessfully and that the proceedings against Thaçi are the only ones he has left in Europe.

In his reaction, he stressed that Hashim Thaçi has been in prison for six years, since his arrest while serving as President of Kosovo. According to Grenell, Thaçi was traveling to Washington, D.C., to hold final talks with President Trump regarding the Oval Office agreement, which aimed to normalize economic relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Grenell also said that American Democrats had testified in The Hague in Thaçi’s favor. He claims they stated under oath that Jack Smith’s accusations were completely untrue.

According to him, Thaçi enjoys bipartisan support in the United States, while opposition to Jack Smith is also present on both sides of the political spectrum.

Now, Grenell added, the decision on September 16 remains in the hands of the Hague court.
