Rama responds to eye injury: I personally arranged for him to go to Italy’s best hospital, “curses” protesters and media: You are the darkness that took the…

In a post on X, Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to last night’s protest, during which Erjon Vishkulli was seriously injured in the eye after being shot by police with a rubber bullet.

As 28-year-old Erjon Vishkulli risks losing his sight after being hit by a rubber bullet, Prime Minister Edi Rama has lashed out at protesters and those he accuses of inciting violence, calling them “criminals,” “ignorant” and “darkness.”

Rama described taking part in violent protests as dangerous and blamed those who, he said, organize and provoke clashes with the police.

The prime minister also directed accusations at young people involved in the protests, claiming that among the participants are paid individuals, criminals, ignorant young men and underage children.

“The injury to the young man from Elbasan should be a wake-up call for everyone, but above all for the inciters of violence who spread propaganda from corrupt television screens and their social media mirrors—or, worse still, pay all kinds of people to serve as cannon fodder, from criminals to ignorant young men and even underage children,” Rama wrote.

The statement came after Erjon Vishkulli was seriously injured. He said he was suddenly struck in the eye during the protest while about 30 meters from police forces.

According to his account, after being hit he took only a few steps before collapsing to the ground.

The rubber bullet is still lodged in the 28-year-old’s left eye, and there are concerns the injury could cause permanent damage to his sight.

“Taking part in violent protests is certainly dangerous for the perpetrators themselves and those around them, all the more so when it is now known, even internationally, that these protests also involve the hand of a deranged thug with a long record of arson and bloodshed.

👺

I am deeply sorry whenever anyone is physically injured, even a violent protester. But how can every possible injury be avoided if violence defines the nature of a protest?

This is a rhetorical question, and the injury to the young man from Elbasan should be a wake-up call for everyone, but above all for the inciters of violence who spread propaganda from corrupt television screens and their social media mirrors—or, worse still, pay all kinds of people to serve as cannon fodder, from criminals to ignorant young men and even underage children.

Having personally taken steps last night to arrange treatment for the young man at Italy’s best hospital, as well as transport on a medical charter flight, I say to all those who are frantically exploiting his injured eye to incite further violence:

🤡

You are the darkness that took the light from that boy’s eye!

You are the fingers and nails of the hand of a curse that has haunted Albania since 1912, closing its eyes whenever this country sees the light!

But this time you are lost, because Albania’s light is now far greater than the darkness, and you are fewer and fewer. That is why you are resorting to violence, burning and destruction with the unbearable hatred of that hand, while reminding Albanians better than ever of who you are.

And Albanians will not forgive you. Wait and see.”
