During a joint conference in Tirana with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the recent debate surrounding the investigation and detention order against former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni.

Rama said that these developments had not affected the way European partners perceive Albania. According to him, the assessment of the country is linked to daily efforts and concrete facts, while investigative matters should be left to the justice institutions.
He said that investigative materials released sporadically should not be used to influence public opinion and that the final answers would emerge during the trial process.
“This is a matter that should be left to the court, rather than to the sporadic reading of investigative materials released to confuse public opinion. The process will show whether or not there are matters that have compromised national security or relations with our partners,” the prime minister said.
Rama stressed that no international partner had conveyed any concerns to him regarding the situation. “I expect the prosecution and the court to do their job and, in the end, for the result to emerge as well,” he said.
