Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the cameras of the National Road Traffic Monitoring Center will be activated soon as part of measures to improve road safety.

According to him, 1,100 administrative penalties have been issued this week alone to drivers who exceeded the speed limit, while in some cases vehicles were traveling at up to 230 km/h.
In a Facebook post, Rama called on drivers to respect traffic regulations. He particularly emphasized the need to avoid using phones while driving, alcohol and narcotics, as well as excessive speed.
“Road safety remains a priority. The cameras of the National Road Traffic Monitoring Center will also soon become operational, strengthening monitoring on the main roads.
This week alone, 1,100 administrative penalties have been issued for speeding, with some cases reaching up to 230 km/h.
The appeal to drivers is clear: no phones at the wheel, no alcohol or narcotics, and no speeding,” Rama wrote.
