The Collective for Feminist Thought and Action has called for a protest on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in “Zahir Pajaziti” Square in Pristina, under the slogan “The killing of women must be treated as a national emergency.”
The organizers are calling on citizens to join the mobilization against violence against women and demand justice for victims of femicide, as well as accountability from institutions for killings and alleged failures to prevent them.

The call for the protest is also linked to the recent killing of Arlinda Zekaj. According to the Collective, she had sought help before she was killed, while this case, together with other cases of femicide, demonstrates the need for a stronger institutional response to warnings of violence and the risks facing women.
The Collective stresses that violence against women must not be considered an ordinary phenomenon and calls for immediate action by society and institutions to protect their lives and safety.
According to the organizers, violence against women is linked to a patriarchal society and an institutional system that is failing to provide the necessary protection. For this reason, they are calling for institutional responsibilities to be identified and addressed.
In addition to Wednesday’s gathering, the Collective has announced further actions in the coming days directed at institutions responsible for justice and public safety. The list includes the Ministry of Justice, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Kosovo Police and the Government.
The main demands include declaring the killing of women a national emergency, strengthening institutional accountability, protecting women from violence and ensuring justice for victims of femicide.
The Collective for Feminist Thought and Action has called on citizens to show solidarity and take part in the protest in support of demands for safety, freedom and justice for women in Kosovo.
