Parliament continues harmonizing laws with the Law on high-level leaders at its 123rd session

At its 123rd plenary session, MPs approved the need for ten laws to be reviewed under an expedited procedure, with the aim of harmonizing them with the Law on high-level leaders.

The legislation includes amendments and supplements to the law establishing the National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility, the law on innovative activity, scientific and technological development and entrepreneurship, as well as the law on the Educational Inspectorate. The list continues with amendments to the law on the pedagogical service, the law on the Bureau for the Development of Education, the law on film activity and the law on the protection of cultural heritage. It also includes the law on the rights of communities representing less than 20% of the population in the Republic of North Macedonia, the law on the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages and amendments to the law on civil registry records.

During the session, MP Skender Rexhepi requested that the Proposed Resolution on respecting judicial procedure standards in the international trial against former leaders of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo be added to the agenda. Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said that the resolution is listed on the agenda of the 85th plenary session and that the session to review it will be scheduled once the conditions are met.

MPs from the European Front supported Rexhepi’s request, while coordinator Rina Ajdari criticized Gashi’s work.
