Spending by members of Parliament during July exceeded €707,000, equivalent to around 65 million lek.

In addition to their monthly gross salaries, which for all lawmakers total more than 42 million lek, with an average of 300,000 lek per MP, a further 23 million lek was paid in the form of reimbursements.
The largest bill was for per diems for domestic travel. In July alone, more than €156,000 was spent in this category.
At the top of the list is Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi, who was reimbursed around €2,000. He is followed by the leader of the PD parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, with €1,900, while the most common reimbursement was around €1,500.
Fuel was the second-largest expense of the month, at nearly €50,000, showing that the increase in the price of diesel has not been reflected in MPs’ spending.
Most lawmakers received a reimbursement of 40,000 lek for fuel. At the same time, their telephone expenses were also reimbursed, generally amounting to around €200.
Reimbursements also include payments for participation in parliamentary committees, with a maximum value of 24,000 lek. The list also includes MPs who declare housing rents and receive reimbursement for them. Ana Dajko, an MP from Adriatik Lapaj’s “Albania Becomes” party, stands out among them.
Although she has declared assets worth more than €1 million and several apartments in her ownership, Dajko received a rent reimbursement of 140,000 old lek for July.
An analysis of the MPs who received the most during the last month of parliamentary activity shows that they are mainly newly elected lawmakers. In addition to their salaries, they also receive payments for everyday costs.
Zamira Sinaj from Vlora and Elton Korreshi from Fier, together with veteran Parliament Socialist Antoneta Dhima, top the ranking. For July, each of them received reimbursements of around 260,000 lek.
Ranking next, with nearly 2,000 lek less, are newly elected Socialist Party MP Erjo Mile from Fier and Bledi Çomo of Pogradec.
Newly elected Democratic Party MP Ledina Alolli received around 255,000 lek, followed by Socialist Zegjine Çaushi with around 253,000 lek.
On the other hand, the more experienced parliamentarians appear among those receiving the least. From the Socialist Party, Lindita Nikolla received the smallest amount, while from the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha received around €500 in additional payments. They are followed by Agron Shehaj and Elisa Spiropali.
Ogerta Manastirliu and Belinda Balluku are also among the MPs with lower monthly benefits. Among the newly elected lawmakers in this category are Durrës Socialist Loer Kume, PSD MP Tedi Mulaj and PS MP Marjana Koçeku, who is now independent.
