According to The Guardian, the shootings began on Friday in Trappes before moving to La Verrière, west of Paris. The suspect is believed to have fired shots at several locations within approximately 15 minutes.

A 12-year-old girl is among the injured, while three of those wounded are reportedly in serious condition.

Following the attack, Macron visited Trappes and described the incident as a “turning point” for the French Republic, calling it a terrorist attack motivated by racism.

The mayor of Trappes, Ali Rabeh, said the suspect was travelling in a grey Renault Clio and shooting at people he encountered.

Shootings were reported at several locations, including near a petrol station, a medical centre and a children’s play area.

French investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and the motive for the attack.
