LSDM Files Criminal Complaint Against Klekovski, Andonovska, Lazov and Ameti Over Contaminated Water in Gostivar

LSDM announced today that it has filed a criminal complaint in connection with the contaminated water case in Gostivar. The complaint was filed against Health Minister Sashko Klekovski, Director of the Institute of Public Health Marija Andonovska, Director of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate Kiril Lazov, and Director of the Tetovo Center for Public Health Shpendi Ameti.

At a press conference, Jon Frçkoski, a member of LSDM’s Executive Board, said the party is seeking accountability for what it describes as failures and incompetent actions by the health and inspection authorities.

“More than a month has passed since the entire city of Gostivar was poisoned by contaminated water. Nearly 5,000 residents ended up in hospital. It was a health disaster and a total collapse of the institutions,” Frçkoski said.

According to LSDM’s claims, the response by the responsible institutions was delayed, while residents consumed water that the party considers unsafe for 22 days.

Frçkoski also accused the institutions of failing to act promptly to determine the cause, even though a large number of residents had reported health problems./Telegrafi/
