LSDM seeks accountability from Mickoski, Klekovski and Toshkovski over poisoning in Gostivar and Macedonia

LSDM says contaminated water has poisoned the entire city of Gostivar, causing health consequences for more than 4,000 people, while no one in power has been held accountable.

According to the party, more than 50 settlements in Macedonia have faced poisoning from contaminated water, and citizens are paying for the situation with their health, with no accountability from the Government.

“How could such a thing be allowed? For four weeks, Mickoski and Klekovski have endangered the health of Gostivar residents, while throughout this period citizens have had no clean water,” LSDM said.

The party stresses that the results of tests on Gostivar’s drinking water are not expected to be published until August 20. Until then, it says, citizens have been left to cope on their own with uncertainty, fears for their health and panic that illnesses and other consequences may emerge.

LSDM alleges that the water was declared “technically safe” only because Mickoski said it was, rather than on the basis of test results. The party adds that no report, water analysis or signed document authorizing the use of the “technical water” was published.

The statement also mentions Police Minister Toshkovski, who is said to have been involved in the hyperchlorination process and to have asked citizens to leave the water running from their taps.

Meanwhile, director Stojanche Angellov confirmed the presence of a dangerous bacterium in the water. LSDM claims that while people are suffering, the “tender patriots” are profiting through business deals worth 100,000 euros for water in Gostivar.

“There can be no greater scandal or irresponsibility than playing with citizens’ lives in this way. This situation is no longer merely a crisis, but a health catastrophe, complete chaos and the collapse of institutions,” LSDM said./Telegrafi/
