Queen Letizia was the center of attention at a state dinner in Madrid, where she and King Felipe VI welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.

For the evening, the 54-year-old queen wore a long blue Carolina Herrera gown. She paired it with the Spanish Floral Tiara, one of her favorite pieces of jewelry and a crown of historical significance that the Spanish government gave to former Queen Sofia for her wedding in 1962.
She paired the gown with metallic platform sandals from the Spanish brand Martinelli. King Felipe VI welcomed the French presidential couple to the Royal Palace of Madrid wearing a black suit and white bow tie.
Brigitte Macron wore an elegant white column gown with silver embellishments along the sides. She completed the look with a shiny white handbag and long earrings.
Emmanuel Macron also wore decorations representing the ties between France and Spain, including the insignia of the Order of Isabella the Catholic.
The dinner menu was specially prepared by renowned Spanish chef Joan Roca. President Macron and King Felipe VI delivered speeches during the ceremony.
In his remarks, Macron also referred to Princess Leonor, the royal couple’s daughter, who recently began university studies in Madrid.
This was the first state visit by a French president to Spain since 2009. The aim of the two-day trip is to deepen political, economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, Emmanuel Macron and Felipe VI discussed Franco-Spanish relations. Their talks also covered the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, signed by Macron and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Barcelona in January 2023.
