The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has strongly condemned the government’s decision to appoint former Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Arben Fetai as the new Special Envoy to the European Union, describing the move as shameful and scandalous.

According to the LDP, the decision constitutes a direct insult, a blatant show of contempt and a blow to all honest citizens who struggle every day to survive.
“With this move, the government has once again shown that it knows neither responsibility nor shame when using public funds and handing out lucrative or fictitious positions. Citizens have not forgotten that the same ‘official’ was absent from work meetings for months and boycotted government sessions, while continuing to regularly collect his official salary from the pockets of the poorest people in Europe,” the LDP said.
The party stressed that instead of being held accountable for his inaction, Fetai mocked the public by posting photographs from Bangkok. According to the LDP, he is now being rewarded with a position and privileges in Brussels by the very citizens he had previously ignored.
“The Prime Minister not only put himself in a shameful position, but also capitulated. Further evidence of this shame and partisan arbitrariness is the fact that Fetai himself announced his appointment to this senior state position on social media, where he thanked the Prime Minister in a post written only in the second official language. What message is this government sending to Brussels when it appoints as a special representative someone whose only proven ‘qualification’ is inaction and evasion of responsibility? The scandalous signal is that irresponsibility is rewarded in Macedonia, while state positions are turned into private ATMs to satisfy the appetites of those in power. This is the same irresponsibility that produces tragedies, fires, poisonings, epidemics and human casualties,” the LDP said.
