KFOR said the patrols provide the mission with a visible and continuous presence throughout the region. They also give the units an opportunity to build situational awareness and monitor security conditions on the ground.
The statement said these actions are part of KFOR’s ongoing commitment to security and stability, as well as to supporting freedom of movement for all people living in Kosovo in a transparent and impartial manner.
KFOR emphasized that it continues to fulfill its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999. The mandate aims to contribute to a safe and calm environment for all people in Kosovo and guarantee freedom of movement at all times. According to the statement, KFOR operates impartially and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in line with their respective roles in responding to security issues.
