Albanian MP in the Serbian Parliament Shaip Kamberi has reacted to the funeral ceremony in Belgrade of Ratko Mladić, the criminal convicted of genocide.
According to Kamberi, images from the ceremony indicate that the idea of the “Serbian World” is taking shape in the Balkans, under the watch of the European Union and the international community.

“A new ghost is appearing over the Balkans: the ghost of the ‘Serbian World.’
The burial of Ratko Mladić, the criminal convicted of genocide, proves that this ghost is becoming a reality before the eyes of the EU and the entire world.
When the state, the church and the political elite in Belgrade come together to pay military honors to someone convicted of genocide, the message represents not only an ugly nostalgia, but also a direct threat to the future of the Western Balkans,” Kamberi wrote.
The Albanian MP’s reaction came after Mladić’s funeral ceremony in Belgrade, which also prompted reactions from senior European Union officials.
