Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari has warned that there could be other individuals who may be declared “Non Grata” by the Albanian government because they could threaten the country’s national security. Speaking in an interview with Euronews Albania, Lamallari stressed that he would not be deterred by public pressure or various judgments, underlining that the public interest remains the top priority.
“So, as I said a little earlier, allow me to repeat it. Every week, I have on my desk dozens of requests coming from law enforcement agencies. This is dynamic work that continues day by day. And if it turns out that these individuals are involved in organized crime, serious crimes, fraud, or blackmail against Albanian citizens.

If it turns out that these individuals take part, alongside their daily activities, of course, as I said, dangerous ones, and also take part in protests, that does not mean we will back down. Our duty is to enforce the law point by point, because at the end of the day, regardless of different shades or different political situations, the State Police must be at the forefront of its duty and protect Albanian citizens. And without being deterred by the public pressure that may be created or by the different judgments that may come. But certainly this is my duty, this is the duty of the Albanian government, this is what we have been entrusted with, and above all, the public interest prevails,” said Lamallari.
