Road accidents continue to leave a bloody toll on Albania’s roads every day, causing hundreds of injuries and loss of life.

In its latest report, INSTAT said that 679 road accidents were recorded during the first six months of this year. A total of 952 people were injured in these accidents, some of whom lost their lives.
According to statistical experts, the number of accidents increased by 6.8% compared with the same period last year.
June had the highest number of accidents, with 132 cases recorded and 186 people killed or injured. In June 2025, 107 accidents were recorded, involving 140 casualties.
INSTAT data show that driver behavior caused 93.9% of the accidents that occurred in June. Drivers aged 35-44 accounted for the largest share of recorded cases, making up 28% of the total.
During the first half of the year, Tirana ranked first nationwide, with 277 accidents and 345 people killed or injured. It was followed by Lezha, where 74 accidents occurred, and Vlora with 67 cases.
One-quarter of the accidents were recorded between 19:00 and 24:00. Tuesday had the highest number of cases, accounting for 18.9% of the total, while the lowest incidence was recorded on Thursday, at 7.6%.
