LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami has reiterated her call for political accountability and the organization of internal party elections, stressing that the Democratic League of Kosovo must undergo deep reflection following the election results.
In a public post, she recalled that as early as January she had called for the party leader’s resignation, while she herself had offered her irrevocable resignation from the post of vice chairwoman, arguing that political responsibility cannot be applied selectively.

“The principle that whoever loses takes responsibility and steps aside must be applied without exception,” Bajrami wrote.
In her post, she said that internal elections remain the solution and that action must be taken with dignity, because positions are not permanent.
Bajrami stressed that she had made the same position public in January as well, when she said that after a heavy election result, the LDK needed reflection, accountability and internal electoral processes.
She underlined that at the time she had called for the leader’s resignation and had irrevocably stepped down from the position of vice chairwoman because, according to her, the standards must be equal for everyone.
Further, Bajrami recalled that the LDK held the party Assembly, where the leader put his mandate to a vote. According to her, around 45% of delegates expressed support for his resignation, which she described as a clear signal that the party needed deep reflection and necessary changes.
However, she stressed that the leader decided to continue, even taking expanded powers from that same Assembly.
According to Bajrami, after another election result that once again placed the LDK in third place, as well as after public calls from several branches for political accountability, it has become even more evident that the issues identified in January were never addressed.
She made it known that her position remains unchanged.
In the end, Bajrami said that the LDK needs sincere reflection, political accountability and the start of a new chapter that would restore the trust of the membership and the citizens, stressing that the LDK is far greater than any one of them.
