Halilaj criticizes calls against Gërvalla after the murder of Arlinda Zekaj: Prosecutors and judges were inherited from the “Pronto clan

Following the murder of Arlinda Zekaj in Vitomirica, Peja, lawyer Gazmend Halilaj has opposed calls for Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla to assume political responsibility.

In a video posted on Facebook, Halilaj said that the investigators, prosecutors and judges whom he described as failures were not appointed by the Kurti government or by Gërvalla. According to him, they were inherited from previous governments, which he linked to what he called the “Pronto clan.”

“The failed investigators, prosecutors and judges were not brought in by the Kurti government or Minister Donika Gërvalla; they found them among us, brought in by the Pronto clan. Previously, they had been filled with diplomas and titles, as well as wealth whose origins even they themselves do not know,” Halilaj said, as reported by “Bota sot.”

He claimed that calls for accountability from the minister reflected, in his view, a confusion between fantasy and reality.

“Calling for accountability and responsibility from the Minister of Justice shows that they are deeply confused between fantasy and reality. Go and demand accountability from those who are putting them out on the streets. Who is seeking justice? Those who were filled with bombs until yesterday!…” he declared.

The murder of Arlinda Zekaj has prompted widespread public reactions and protests. The protesters are demanding that the case be fully investigated, as well as institutional accountability for the possible actions or inaction of the officials responsible.
