Italy is expected to face considerable travel disruptions on October 30, when the USB union has called a general strike. The protest is linked to the rising cost of living and wages considered insufficient.
Although Transport Minister Matteo Salvini ordered restrictions on the strike in the transport sector, USB has decided to proceed with the action, opposing the measure taken by the government.

Trenitalia and Trenord trains are expected to operate normally. Meanwhile, local public transport may face delays or disruptions, depending on the city. In Rome, bus, tram and metro services could be suspended.
Disruptions may also occur in Bologna and Turin, while the public transport strike in Milan has been postponed. The action may also affect taxis, air transport, ports and some public services, including healthcare.
The protesters’ demands include wage increases in line with inflation, lower prices for basic goods, energy bills and rents, as well as increased investment in education and healthcare.
Authorities have urged citizens to check schedules and guaranteed services in advance to avoid delays during their journeys. The strike may also cause difficulties in schools and public offices, where delays and longer waiting times are expected.
