A relative of the Kola family, whose gas cylinder exploded, has recounted details of the incident in the village of Markatomaj, Lezhë, in which six people were injured.

He explained that the family lived in Italy and had come to their two-story home for a holiday and a family wedding.
“They lived in Italy. They came for a holiday. They had a wedding, the wedding of my brother’s daughter. I thought it was a tire from one of the heavy vehicles, but a friend called me and told me that Saimiri had been injured. A gas cylinder had exploded. The cylinder was outside. No one lived in this house; only they stayed there when they came on holiday,” the family relative said.
Head of the family Saimir Kola, who was due to marry off his niece the following day, suffered severe burns and was urgently transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.
