Gacaferi: PDK is steering the country toward new elections to weaken Kurti

Luan Gacaferi, a member of the Guxo Movement, has commented on Kosovo’s political crisis, accusing the opposition of creating circumstances that could once again send the country to elections by blocking the institutions.

Referring to the consequences of the February 9, 2025 elections, Gacaferi said that the united opposition had pushed the country toward the December 27 elections of the same year, expecting support for Albin Kurti to fall below 40 percent.

However, according to him, this prediction did not materialize, as Kurti managed to win more than 51 percent of the vote in the December elections.

“On December 27, 2025, the united opposition sent the country to elections through a blockade, following the February 9, 2025 elections, hoping to bring Albin below 40 percent! But they failed miserably because Albin won more than 51 percent in December 2025!” Gacaferi wrote.

He also revisited the position taken by the Democratic League of Kosovo after the June 7, 2026 elections, criticizing the party for its decision and approach.

Gacaferi claims that the LDK entered that process hoping that Kurti’s result would decline, while it would secure more than 25 percent of the vote itself.

“On June 7, 2026, the LDK once again sent the country to elections through its blockade, thinking that, with Vjosa Osmani, they would bring Albin below 40 percent and the LDK would surpass 25 percent! But the LDK failed miserably again,” he said.

According to him, the position PDK is currently taking could also create another crisis and send Kosovo to elections during December.

Gacaferi said that PDK may be calculating that developments concerning former President Hashim Thaçi could affect the next election result and weaken support for Kurti.

“Now, through its blockade, PDK wants to send the country to elections again in December of this year, hoping that Hashim Thaçi will be released from prison in The Hague, and thus they will bring Albin below 40 percent! But PDK will fail even more badly, with or without Hashim!” Gacaferi wrote.

In conclusion, he said that Kurti’s support could fall below 40 percent only because of Kurti himself, arguing that his strength is also linked to the weakness of his political opponents.

“Only Albin, and no one else walking on two feet on this earth, can bring Albin below 40 percent! Perhaps not because Albin is very strong, but because the opposition is very weak,” Gacaferi concluded.
