Salvador Illa, the leader of Catalonia, said that a man died in Tordera, north of Barcelona, after a wall collapsed due to severe weather conditions.
The other victim was reported in the municipality of Montornès del Vallès. Meanwhile, searches for a missing person are under way in Pineda de Mar, about 52 kilometers north of Barcelona.
The intensity of the rainfall caused flooding in several areas, blocking roads and sweeping vehicles away in the water. Emergency services have been placed on alert, while residents have been urged to exercise caution and stay away from flooded areas.
Flooding also hits other parts of Spain
The effects of the extreme weather were also felt in other parts of Spain. In Madrigueras, in the central part of the country, heavy rainfall concentrated over a short period caused severe flooding.
