Fire breaks out in a cell at Diavata Prison in Thessaloniki, three inmates taken to hospital

A fire broke out in a cell at Diavata Prison in Thessaloniki on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 17:30, after a mattress inside the cell caught fire for reasons that have not yet been disclosed.

As a result, three inmates were taken to hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties.

Authorities have launched a preliminary investigation to clarify the circumstances of the fire and determine whether it was deliberate or accidental.
