Edmond Spaho has reacted on social media with serious accusations against the Democratic Party’s (PD) Secretary General, Flamur Noka. He recounted the conflicts between them and the circumstances in which, according to him, he was sidelined from the party’s political leadership.
Spaho claims that his clash with Noka came very close to escalating into a physical confrontation. He also says that he had informed Sali Berisha dozens of times about the Secretary General’s conduct, but the Democratic Party leader merely gave him hope that the matter would be resolved in the best possible way.

According to him, his removal from the leadership of the Korca district was unrelated to his performance in the role. Spaho claims he was replaced because Noka did not like him and had promised the position to someone else.
Full statement:
Dear Luciano,
I was among the first within the PD to oppose Mulism. I am not referring to any political philosophy, because the idea of Muli as a party philosopher makes me laugh, but to an arrogant, arbitrary and contemptuous way of treating colleagues. This involves nepotistic decision-making, a lack of political morality and trampling on colleagues, while claiming to be Berisha’s eyes and ears.
We have discussed this problem continuously. In fact, a respected colleague asked ironically whether we had joined the Re-establishment movement only to replace X with Muli.
As you also know, I had very heated debates with him in the PD leadership and in the Parliamentary Group over the unprincipled merger with Lul’s group. Later, without offering the slightest argument, he removed me from the position of leader of the Korca district. The only reason was that he did not like me and had promised someone else, with whom he is now enemies, that Spaho would have to watch the leadership of the Korca district through binoculars.
He made the same attempt against Luan Baci, although he did not manage to place him on the open list.
A day after the debate, when we met in his office, he explained that they had considered replacing me with Ivi, on the grounds that Permet, the town Ivi comes from, is near the Korca district. How can one challenge such an “argument,” knowing which philosopher is presenting it?
For nearly two years, in direct communications, I opposed his boorish manner. He did not ask anyone, but merely issued orders about what had to be done. He made decisions without informing district leaders, let alone involving them in consultations. Only a thread separated us from a physical confrontation.
I wrote to Sali Berisha dozens of times about this unacceptable conduct. He kept my hopes up, telling me that everything would be resolved in the best possible way.
In the end, the problems were “resolved” by removing me from politics, exactly as Muli had sworn in Tirana cafes. This happened even though my contributions were at least equal to those of all the other people who supported the Re-establishment movement and continued to remain in politics with Berisha’s guarantee.
Moreover, the PD sabotaged my personal campaign on the open list for the May 11, 2025 elections. It had never happened in the Democratic Party that Muli and the district leader worked against one of their colleagues with the aim of preventing him from entering Parliament.
During that period, none of you spoke out. No one reacted to the way the merger was carried out and to the humiliation of the people of the Re-establishment movement, who were the first to rush to support Berisha and his pledge for a truly democratic party. Everyone cared only about their own comfort.
You did not speak out even after the elections were lost disgracefully, by a margin of 300,000 votes. No analysis was conducted and no one took responsibility. I was the only one who resigned from my positions, even though responsibility for the defeat began with Berisha and the people running the party.
Why was the statute not applied regarding the Chairman’s resignation? Why did you remain silent and fail to rise up to defend democracy within the party?
Now you are experiencing yourselves the injustice that I went through earlier.
You say that the voting is not clean. In fact, it has never been clean since December 2021. How can it be called clean when LDG and FRDP control 60% of the votes in the National Council? Do you understand, Luciano, that it is the partner organizations that decide who should lead the PD?
This shameful way of operating began with the Re-establishment movement, while your “friends” have struck you according to the instructions they received. With pain, brother, with pain, as Kadare used to say.
This outcome was predictable, because no one raised their voice when the lists of parliamentary candidates were not being drawn up based on merit, individual sacrifices, primary results and work with emigrants. Instead of these criteria, nepotism, cliques, financial promises and servility prevailed.
Everyone thought only of their personal interest. It was enough to secure a place on the closed list, and then let the world end. Today it is your turn to be punished unjustly, despite the fact that you won in Shkoder and no one appreciated it.
You can take comfort in the fact that you are neither the first nor the last to suffer this fate in Berisha’s PD. Today, almost all the people of the Re-establishment movement have been left out in the cold. In the next elections, even the few who remain in politics will be eliminated.
If the PD truly matters to you, then speak openly. Reveal the swamp that exists there, the way people are selected and promoted, and the bringing down of anyone who dares to raise problems or disagree with Berisha and his Muli when they are wrong. Open the wound so that the truth can come to light.
Do not be guided by personal interest, thinking that maintaining good relations with Berisha is enough to secure your own position.
Do not accept being insulted by the claim that the current leadership team is the best the PD has had since its founding. Even if you gathered all the members of today’s team together, they would not amount to a quarter of Pjeter Arbnori, who spent 28 years in communist prisons.
Luciano, Berisha loves no one, so do not be upset that he removed you. He loves only himself. He does not love Muli either, but today Muli provides him with what neither you nor I can offer him.
If you truly love the PD, raise your voice.
