Shkëlqim Pajazitaj, Donjeta Pajazitaj’s brother, has reacted to Valbona Disha Haxhosaj’s appointment as head of the prosecution. He expressed frustration that, even after 11 years, his sister’s case has not reached a final conclusion.
In a public statement, Pajazitaj questioned the appointment and called on the institutions to take responsibility and explain how Donjeta Pajazitaj’s case was handled.

“Instead of calling for justice, this decision is deepening my distrust of the justice system even further!” he wrote.
He asked who would answer for the long wait to solve the case once and for all, and who would be held responsible for how it was handled.
“Who will answer for these years of waiting? Who will take responsibility for how Donjeta’s case was handled?” Pajazitaj wrote.
Pajazitaj called on the responsible institutions to be transparent, be accountable and provide concrete explanations. The family, he said, has the right to know what happened with the case.
Donjeta was murdered, but no one has been convicted, while the prosecutor who handled the case has been appointed to a leadership position.
On June 8, 2017, Disha-Haxhosaj filed an indictment against Naser Pajazitaj, accusing him of murdering the 24-year-old.
The case went through several court proceedings, which resulted in different rulings, ranging from acquittal to life imprisonment.
In April 2023, the Supreme Court finally acquitted Naser Pajazitaj of the murder charge due to insufficient evidence.
The ruling brought the case against him to a close, but did not end the family’s efforts to uncover the truth about Donjeta’s murder.
