Police have arrested Xhever Imeri, deputy director of the Administration Sector at the Customs Directorate, after he was caught in the act accepting more than 15,000 euros in bribes in connection with a public tender.

Sources said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Public Security Bureau, had prepared marked banknotes, which were handed to the suspect during a pre-arranged operation.
Immediately after receiving the money, Imeri disobeyed police orders and attempted to flee at speed. Law enforcement officers reacted immediately, stopping and arresting him.
