An issue concerning the project to build a new factory for the Knauf company in Debar is expected to be put to a vote by the Municipal Council on Monday. InfoShqip obtained this information from sources within the Municipality of Debar who requested anonymity.

Knauf’s plans for a new investment had previously been made public. In January of this year, the Mayor of Debar, Fisnik Mela, visited the company’s headquarters in Iphofen, Germany. A statement issued by the municipality at the time said that the possibility of building a new factory with significantly greater production capacity had also been discussed at the meeting. The estimated value of the investment was around 44 million euros.
Attention is also expected to be paid to the project’s potential environmental impact, particularly because the planned site is located in the central area of the city. For this reason, it is important that the public be informed of the environmental assessments, the planned measures to protect air quality and the environment, as well as the standards that an investment of this type must meet.
