CNN: Is Friedrich Merz heading for failure as the far right scores new victories?

A CNN analysis describes Merz’s situation as uncertain, at a time when only 13% of Germans say they are satisfied with the chancellor’s performance.

Criticism of him centers on his poor communication skills, failure to fulfill financial promises and diplomatic clashes with the White House during Donald Trump’s tenure.

Despite calls from the far right for snap elections and voices demanding his departure, Merz has made clear that he does not plan to resign. He has called on supporters to show courage and patience to get through this difficult period.

The political crisis in Germany, the European Union’s most powerful economy, is raising concerns about the country’s stability and the support it provides to Ukraine.

However, experts believe Merz’s departure is not an imminent scenario, as there is currently no clear successor. Among the names mentioned as a possibility is the governor of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst.
