The Saranda Prosecutor’s Office has imposed the security measure “arrest in prison” on six security guards who physically assaulted the head of the Crimes Department at the Saranda Police Commissariat, Mateo Bakalli. They are Marjo Katiraj, 35; Elgent Ndoj, 38; Faik Hoxha, 35; Indrit Cullhaj, 34; Ardit Kasemi, 31; and Besnik Sullollari, 29, while Pjetër Doçi, 28, has been declared wanted.

They are accused of the criminal offense of “assault because of duty,” committed in cooperation, as provided for under Articles 237/3 and 25 of the Criminal Code. The incident occurred at around 3:20 a.m. on August 16, outside the “Orange” club. According to the police statement, the security guards were physically clashing with several other people when the head of the Crimes Department was passing by in a vehicle and noticed that several people were fighting.
He then intervened to stop the altercation, but the situation escalated and the security guards struck Bakalli. Police officers and members of the “Eagles” force also intervened in the incident, managing to defuse the situation and escorting several people to the police commissariat.
