Himara Police have arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of starting the fire that broke out three days ago in the village of Tërbaç and later spread toward the territory of the village of Vranisht.

According to the authorities, A. B., a resident of Tërbaç, set fire to an area of land on August 26 in an area known as “Lugu i Thatë.”
As the flames spread, cultivated land across a large area was burned, along with wild and forest vegetation in the territory of Vranisht.
Immediately after being notified that a fire had broken out on August 26, 2026, in the place known as “Lugu i Thatë” in the village of Tërbaç, and that areas of land were burning, officers from the Himara Police Commissariat arrived at the scene.
Police assisted the firefighting forces in managing the situation and containing the flames, while simultaneously launching an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and identify the person responsible.
The flames also spread into the territory of the village of Vranisht, damaging a considerable area of cultivated land, as well as wild and forest vegetation.
Following an extensive investigation, the collection and processing of material evidence, and the securing of the necessary information, the investigative team identified citizen A. B., 25, a resident of the village of Tërbaç, as the suspected perpetrator.
At the conclusion of the investigative procedures, the 25-year-old was arrested.
The case materials were referred to the Prosecution Office attached to the Vlorë First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction for the criminal offense of “Destruction by fire of forests and forest environments,” with a view to continuing further proceedings.
The Vlorë Local Police Directorate urges citizens not to light fires to burn waste or for any other reasons, as the flames may spread and cause serious consequences for life, property and the environment.
Citizens are also encouraged to report any case of arson or other violation of the law by calling 112. Police guarantee complete anonymity, a swift response and impartial handling of complaints.
