The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran said on Saturday evening that it had carried out attacks against several ships, including vessels suspected of having links to the United States.

According to the official statement, the operation was carried out in response to earlier US attacks against Iranian oil tankers.
The Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces said they had targeted three tankers sailing along an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz. The same statement said that three other ships had also been struck, which Iranian authorities consider to be linked to the United States.
Tehran called on other ships to avoid routes that have not been approved by the Iranian authorities.
The statement was issued after a series of incidents in the waters near the Strait of Hormuz, a maritime corridor of particular importance for international oil transportation. The latest developments have further deepened the confrontation between Iran and the United States.
