The Ministry of Defence has released the latest data on the wildfire situation across Albania.

According to the operational report of 01.09.2026, at 20:00, a total of 17 fire hotspots have been identified. Of these, 11 have been extinguished, four remain active and two are under surveillance.
To manage the situation on the ground, 164 operational personnel and 13 firefighting vehicles have been deployed. In support of the operations, the Armed Forces have made available 90 personnel and two helicopters.
The active fire hotspots are located in Dajt, Vajkal, Lundre and Therepel.
In the Dajt area, operations are continuing toward Qafë-Priskë, where 68 personnel are operating. According to the statement, homes are not at risk.
In Vajkal, Bulqizë, the fire is spreading across rocky terrain. So far, more than 13 hectares have been affected, while 48 personnel are involved in the operation. No risk to homes has been reported in this area either.
In Lundre, in the municipality of Mat, wind is affecting the progress of the situation. Local structures, volunteers, 30 Armed Forces personnel and one helicopter have been mobilised to extinguish the flames.
The operation in Therepel, Skrapar, is being carried out with the participation of firefighting forces from Skrapar, Berat and Poliçan, volunteers and one Armed Forces helicopter.
The fire hotspots in Qafa e Lugut–Vithkuq and on Mount Qukës–Prrenjas remain under monitoring and do not pose a risk to residential areas.
The National Civil Protection Agency is continuously monitoring the situation throughout the country, in close cooperation with prefectures, municipalities and Civil Protection system structures.
Operational forces and capacities remain on the ground and on standby to respond in any area where intervention is needed, with the protection of citizens’ lives, homes and property as the priority.
