Following the death of his father, King Harald, King Haakon of Norway formally swore an oath before Parliament to uphold the Constitution.

Accompanied at the ceremony by Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Haakon reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s fundamental law and the responsibilities of the Norwegian monarch.
The new king also announced that he would continue to use his father’s motto during his reign: “All for Norway.”
The parliamentary oath ceremony is one of the key symbolic moments marking the beginning of Haakon’s reign and formalizes his commitment to Norway and the Constitution.
