During a joint conference with the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Fitore Pacolli Dalipi, and the Minister for Labor, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, Mr. Andin Hoti, Kurti described the initiative as an important step toward the dignity, equality and social security of families.
He emphasized that housing should be part of the state’s social policies, stating: “When a family cannot feel safe, then we, as a state, must absolutely become a shelter for it. When a family cannot have equal opportunities, then we must absolutely ensure suitable housing conditions.”
According to the acting prime minister, during its term in office the government has implemented various measures to support families, with particular attention to those with children and families facing economic difficulties.
“Support for a family is not only a monthly payment; support is also the opportunity for that family to have suitable, safe and dignified housing,” Kurti said.
He said the project had been developed through cooperation among central institutions, municipalities and international partners.
The funding includes €25 million secured through a loan agreement with the Council of Europe Development Bank and €12 million allocated from Kosovo’s budget.
“So, we have secured a total fund of €37 million. This is, in any case, a major investment,” Kurti declared.
The project covers 21 municipalities, while hundreds of families are expected to benefit from the planned interventions.
“Today we have reached a point where this commitment is moving from planning and preparation to the concrete implementation phase,” the acting prime minister said.
Kurti also announced that the municipalities would have important responsibilities in implementing the project, including conducting procurement procedures and identifying the beneficiary families.
