According to VLEN, the defeat in several municipalities with an Albanian majority was not accompanied by any political accountability within BDI. The response mentions Ali Ahmeti, Bujar Osmani, Bajram Rexhepi and Faton Ahmeti, who, according to VLEN, continued to hold important positions or took on new party roles despite the election results.
“In BDI, it seems there is no accountability for defeat, but the losers are rewarded,” VLEN said in its response.
The party also mentions Haraçina, Bogovina, Tearca, Struga, Zhelina, Saraj and Dolneni, claiming that the defeats in these municipalities were followed neither by resignations nor by a reshuffling of BDI’s leadership structures.
VLEN maintains that BDI’s calls for legitimacy and snap elections are aimed at keeping the same political structure in power and creating the impression that the party could return to power.
“BDI knows very well that Albanians voted them out of all municipalities with an Albanian majority,” the response said, stressing that another confrontation with voters would bring BDI another defeat.
VLEN concluded its statement by declaring that the upcoming elections will deliver the citizens’ final verdict on what it calls BDI’s “unreformed leadership.”
