According to the announcement, the cases were reported in different regions, but all are linked to the Urkult festival, held from late July to early August.
Most of those infected are under 18, and the majority had not received the measles vaccine.
“Measles outbreaks are rare. Measles vaccination is part of the national childhood vaccination program, and vaccination coverage is around 95%,” the Public Health Agency said in a press release.
To contain the spread of the virus, regional health authorities have begun tracing people who have been in contact with those infected.
Measles is considered a highly contagious disease. It is transmitted mainly through respiratory droplets, particularly in places where large numbers of people gather.
